Loving and Compassionate God, Today our hearts are heavy.

We grieve for the lives lost, and for those forever altered, in this tragic act of violence in Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia. We hold in our thoughts the victims, their families, their friends, and the entire school community whose world has been shaken.

In the face of sorrow and shock, we ask for comfort.

In the face of fear, we ask for peace. In the face of anger and confusion, we ask for wisdom and compassion.

Surround those who are mourning with strength and tenderness. Be near to the injured and to all who are carrying unseen wounds.

Support the first responders, educators, and leaders who are caring for others in this painful time. Help us, in our own community, to be people of kindness and courage.

May we check in on one another, speak gently, and act with empathy.

May we be a source of steadiness and hope in a hurting world. Even in darkness, may light be found. Even in grief, may love endure.
